Sen. Vitter visits Summit Group in Crowley

U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana, visited the Summit Group in Crowley at the Rice Palace on Saturday, March 7. In an informal meeting, he discussed state and world problems and then opened the meeting for questions and answers from the group. Asked why he wanted to give up an alleged “safe seat” in the senate in his quest for governor, he replied that he would like to help make Louisiana the best state it can be in order to make all citizens proud of their state and consider it a great state in which to raise all children. He went on to say that being in the Senate was similar to being on a board of directors, whereas being governor is like being the CEO (chief executive officer) where one exercises more direct control and management of the political process. Among those attending were, seated from left, Bobby Barras, Rocky Robin, Senator Vitter, B.I. Moody III, James Davison, Kenneth Privat; standing from left, Danny Wilson, Ted Carmichael, Bobby Belaire, Acadia Tax Assessor Jim Petitjean, Crowley Mayor Greg Jones, Billy Broadhurst, Milo Nickel, Fred Reggie, Jackie Loewer, Von Boyett, Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, Lee Lawrence and Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson.
