The St. Landry Parish Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday, first at a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. and at 6 p.m. for the regular meeting, both at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.

After appearing before a special meeting of the St. Landry Parish Council, Russell Schexnider, of Church Point, was hired as public works director.
The St. Landry Parish Council is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. and begin Public Works and Administrative-Finance committee meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Old City Mark, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.

Additional work by specialized contractors is anticipated to address the worst of the cracks in some newly paved roads in St. Landry Parish, engineers said recently.
