The St. Landry Parish Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday, first at a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. and at 6 p.m. for the regular meeting, both at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.

After appearing before a special meeting of the St. Landry Parish Council, Russell Schexnider, of Church Point, was hired as public works director.
The St. Landry Parish Council is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. and begin Public Works and Administrative-Finance committee meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Old City Mark, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.
