The St. Landry Parish Council is to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.
The Council also will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. on an ordinance to set its meeting schedule for 2016.

The St. Landry Parish Home Rule Charter, which took effect in 2004, banned Parish Council members from day-to-day operations.
The council members are relegated to legislative duties.
The St. Landry Parish Council voted to discuss changes to the home rule charter that has been in effect since 2004.
The Council’s Public Works Committee approved a motion by Councilman Jerry Red to bring the home rule charter discussion to the full Council.
