A $500 scholarship for a St. Landry and Acadia parish high school graduating senior is available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz and Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon announced the scholarship.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office wants to warn all Acadiana residents that professional criminal “scammers” are hard at work trying to steal from our citizens.
The investigation into the death of 22-year-old Bethany Walters of Lawtell is still on going.

A 50-year-old Opelousas man surrendered at the Breaux Bridge Police Department in the stabbing death of his 68-year-old female friend, Capt. Clay Higgins of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release Monday.
