LSU AgCenter offers online interactive flood maps

As hurricane season approaches, Louisiana residents can turn to the LSU AgCenter website for tools to determine if they live in a flood zone and how to prevent storm damage. Among the resources are interactive flood maps, which have recently been updated with new features.

LSU Eunice offers training to first responders on who to work with the media

LSU Eunice will hold a short course for rural first responders on working with the news media on Aug. 20.  The seven-hour tuition-free course will be held on the LSU Eunice campus.  The deadline for registration is Aug. 6.

Fontenot awarded Teaching Excellence Award

Registration open for paddling races from Shreveport to Berwick

Early registration opened May 1 for all Tour du Teche paddle races, including the new ubermarathons being launched from Shreveport-Bossier City, the Tour de la Rivière Rouge and 410 de Louisiane.
And for the first time, online registration is available through Webscorer.

UL B.I. Moody III College professor receives teaching excellence award

Curtis Matherne, management professor in the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, was recently awarded the 2015 John T. and Sandra B. Landry Endowed Award for Teaching Excellence at the college’s 57th annual Awards Banquet.
The annual award recognizes a professor, selected based on student evaluations and senior exit survey comments, as the outstanding teacher in the college.
John T. and Sandra Landry of Abbeville established the endowment in 1991 to annually honor, and give recognition to, the top teacher in the Moody College of Business Administration.
In addition to a recognition plaque, the recipient receives a check for $1000 from the endowment.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
