Eunice railroad crossings targeted for enforcement effort

Two citations were issued Thursday for railroad-related violation Thursday during a Crossing Accident Reduction Enforcement effort in Eunice, a news release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated.

Bishop Michael Jarrell, who served as pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Ville Platte, announced Thursday the formation of a a group to study the troubled high school.
A news release from the diocese stated Jarrell had sent a letter to the Sacred Heart School family.

Twin city discussed in Eunice

The French flowed like, well, more like iced tea as about 20 people met Tuesday over lunch to discuss twinning the city of Eunice with Jouars-Pontchartrain in France.
Jouars-Pontchartrain is in north central France and has a population of about 5,000 people.

Keith D. McLaughlin, the final candidate for chancellor of Louisiana State University Eunice, spoke to faculty, staff and students Monday, and he expressed his eagerness to serve the college as chancellor.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
