Louisiana Natural Gas Co. will soon begin laying 189 miles of pipeline from its Tepetate field to Bastrop, to tie in with lines serving the North and East. Cost is $48 million, said Supt. R.S. Worley.

Hospice of Acadiana’s A Chance to Make a Difference raffle is in full swing and Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. will be holding a telethon on Tuesday, which will be featured from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on KLFY’s Passe Partout and Meet your Neighbor.

May 7
Lacresha Germaine Stevens, 38, 417 Liberty St., Eunice; Bench warrant for disturbing the peace.
Geoffrey Michael Picou, 36, 1220 Nile St., Eunice; Warrants for domestic abuse battery and simple battery.

The Cane River region has a rich tradition of live musical performance. The community was once home to numerous juke joints and dance halls, where farmworkers could enjoy an evening of live Creole music, blues, jazz or early rock and roll.

Laurie Doucet was introduced Thursday morning as St. Edmund High’s next principal by Monsignor J. Robert Romero during a school assembly.
Doucet will officially take her post as principal July 1.
Doucet succeeds Sister Joel Miller as principal.
