The legislative auditor’s recommendation that allegations of theft by the Basile Housing Authority executive director be considered for prosecution have apparently gone unheeded since December 2013, but she has repaid some of the alleged missing money and has been asked to resign.
Investigators are studying surveillance tape to determine the identity of a man who allegedly tried to strangle a woman at a grocery store.
According to the victim, about 8:30 Sunday night a man in Kim’s Market called her a “hoe” and she told him to look at his wife.

The City of Eunice completed the 2013-14 fiscal year one-half percent short of breaking even.
According to the operating statement for the year ending June 30, the city had revenues of $15.64 million and expenses of $15.71, creating an operating deficit of $67,000.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
