Eunice Farmer’s Market summer set
The Eunice Farmers’ Market will meet on Second Street twice a week, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, and again Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Courtyard at Nick’s and Matthew Vidrine were first-place winners in the Louisiana Main Street annual awards program. Nick’s won for best adaptive re-use of a building and Vidrine was volunteer of the year.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited one subject for alleged amphibian violations and arrested another for alleged drug violations in Evangeline Parish on June 7.
Agents cited Kirk Reed, 41, and arrested Crystal Jones, 40, both from Basile.
The St. Landry Parish Council selected the Daily World as its official journal without discussion and disregarded a lower bid from The Eunice News.
The Daily World, of Opelousas, bid $5.60 per column inch. The Eunice News bid was $4 column inch.

For three days about 100 firefighters attended a leadership conference at LSUE last week learning about safety.
Some of the lessons are hard-earned.
Andrew Hundley, who was sentenced to life without parole for the murder of 14-year-old Terri Elizabeth Pitre of Eunice in 1997, walked out of the Baton Rouge State Police Barracks after being released on June 9.
The Eunice News won 10 awards including six first-place awards in the Louisiana Press Association’s annual newspaper competition.
The awards were announced during Saturday’s awards luncheon in Lake Charles.
A Washington man who left a fake prescription and his 8-year-old son at the Maple Avenue Pharmacy, led police on a high-speed chase to LSUE, Eunice Police Detective Robert Brickley said.

Clinton Joseph Pitre Jr., 43, 4300 block of Highway 31, Opelousas. Two counts of simple battery involving domestic violence. Arrested by Leonville Police.
