Kimberly Russell of Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, was selected to replace retiring LSU Eunice Chancellor William J. Nunez III in June after Nunez retired, and Russell became the first female chancellor in the school’s history.
Eunice residents John Arabie and George White became the first same-sex couple to legally marry in the history of St. Landry Parish.
The top 10 stories online are headed by a December story about a 20-year-old woman accused by Eunice police of making 4- and 6-year-old children have sex.

The story about the mayor’s job in Eunice was still unfolding as the year wound down as the Louisiana Supreme Court considered an appeal of a 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal decision that cleared the way for appointed mayor Scott Fontenot to run for the job.

The push for master plan in 2015 had tracks back to 2014, but 2015 was a break-out year to turn an idea to plan the city’s growth into reality.
Scott Fontenot’s run for mayor faces a final challenge in court, this time with the state’s Supreme Court.
The state Board of Ethics appealed a 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal decision that upheld a district ruling that it is legal for Fontenot to run for mayor.
