The 2015 Louisiana rice crop was a challenge for many farmers, with excessive rainfall in the south and hot temperatures in the north.

Crawfish found for sale, but season’s peak months away

Homecoming week at Eunice High started off on a sad note as students at the school learned their schoolmate Julia Watford, 16, and her younger sister Jayia, 9, had died by the hands of their own mother during a murder-suicide.

Their backs were against the wall after losing to Western Oklahoma State College earlier in the NJCAA Division II World Series.
After a 16-14 marathon win over UCONN-Avery Point that lasted to nearly five hours on Thursday, LSU Eunice had to beat Western twice on Saturday.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
