Mayor Ken Peart announced that Louisiana State Police now have a toll-free number to which to report suspected terrorist activity.
While you are shopping at stores, there are some people who are shopping at your residence, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The thieves and burglars began in earnest about two weeks ago in what Fontenot said are crimes of opportunity.

The following are arrests by Eunice police.
Nov. 26
Juvenile, 16, Eunice. Disturbing the peace, criminal damage to property and two counts of simple battery.
Torrance Skinner, 24, 130 block of Arkansas Lane, Eunice. Disturbing the peace.
Some St. Martin Parish plantation owners were trying to drill a well to irrigate their rice crop in 1902 and got really upset when the doggoned well kept producing oil and gas. They drew a crowd after tossing a match into the gas, but still couldn’t draw water for their rice.
Qualifying to fill the unexpired terms of the Eunice mayor and the Ward 4 Board of Alderman’s seat will be held Wednesday through Friday.
The seats were left open after former mayor Claud “Rusty” Moody Jr. died Nov. 3 less than year into his second term.
The Eunice Superette is scheduled to open a new location at 1230 W. Laurel Avenue in Eunice in February. The store will include a drive-through pickup window. The current location on Maple Aveue will remain open. (Photos by Claudette Olivier)

Heavy rain at the beginning of the planting season and a drought during the growing season did not do any favors for the state’s soybean farmers, including those in St. Landry Parish.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
