La. deer hunters lead nation in harvest of older bucks

Louisiana deer hunters who hunt lands in the state’s Deer Management Assistance Program are harvesting older bucks, and the state leads the nation in the harvest of bucks over 3.5 years of age.

Basile prison closing announced

The Basile prison will close in the next few months, representatives of The GEO group, owners of The South Louisiana Corrections Center, announced to a group of elected officials at a parishwide meeting in Ville Platte on Nov. 18.

Israel is chamber president

Anissa Israel, advertising manager at The Eunice News, has been named the new president of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce.
“With the wisdom and experience of our great Chamber Board team, I look forward to doing my part in service for our business community,” Israel said.

Golden Kidney

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
