Numerous community prayer services have been held in the wake of the Grand 16 Theatre shooting in Lafayette that killed two people and wounded nine others on July 23.

A prayer and candlelight vigil remembered Macyi Breaux, a LSUE student who was one of 11 people shot during a one minute rampage at the Grand 16 Theatre in Lafayette, at the LSUE Catholic Student Center Tuesday evening.

Ag industry eyes trade with Cuba

With the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Cuba, port traffic in Louisiana as well as the exporting of the state’s rice, wheat and poultry commodities is expected to increase, according to Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry commissioner Mike Strain.

July 28
Darrell Lee jones, 53, 500 block of West Elm, Eunice; Disturbing the peace and simple assault.
Reagan John Manuel, 19, 200 block of South 8th, Eunice; Possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
