Herbert E. Schilling II, known as “Herbie” to his friends, has been chosen as Honoree of the 2015 International Rice Festival, according to Troy Perry, festival president.
This year’s festival dates are Oct. 15 to 18.
The 13th edition of “The Louisiana Review,” a magazine featuring poetry, short stories, essays, reviews, plays and art has been published by the Division of Liberal Arts on the LSU Eunice campus.

The St. Landry Parish Council’s Public Works Committee wants only parish garbage to be disposed of in the parish landfill.
The city of Eunice is taking applications for a booth spots for arts and crafts, and farmer’s market during the Main to Main event Nov. 7 and 8.
A city-wide garage sale is planned on Saturday of the event.
Main to Main also will include food and entertainment.

After approving $3.8 million in construction at Leonville Elementary, the St. Landry Parish School Board voted for a $10 million bond issue.
The bond would be used to pay for the Leonville project to build a new cafeteria and 18 classrooms, and other, as yet undecided, projects.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
