Louisiana still has potential for a good rice crop

Unusually excessive rainfall and cloudy days have been a challenge for growing rice, but it’s too early to become pessimistic about this year’s crop, according to the director of the LSU AgCenter Rice Research Station.

About 1,300 St. Landry Parish public school students received sex education last school year through a state-sponsored program, “Choosing the Best,” which stresses abstinence.
The program is delivered through Louisiana Youth for Excellence, administered by the governor’s office.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
