Eunice Food Bank moves to Park Avenue

The Eunice Food Bank is now located at a centralized location at 251 Park Ave., and food distribution is continuing as usual.

Reaction positive to chancellor selection

Kimberly Russell has been selected as chancellor of Louisiana State University Eunice.

Kimberly Russell, LSU Eunice’s first woman chancellor and the only female of the final four chancellor candidates, will take over as head of the campus on Sept. 1, and reaction to her selection as chancellor has been positive.

In March, LSUE Chancellor William Nunez sat down for an interview in his office, but not really.
It wasn’t long before Nunez, who had announced his retirement in the fall, was up and pointing out photos on the wall to explain the physical progress on the campus.

Road program makes a big splash in parish audit

St. Landry Parish Government collected about $6.9 million from a 2 percent sales tax in 2014 that funded the Smooth Ride Home program.
The first-time sales tax collection for the road program was reported in an audit accepted Wednesday by the St. Landry Parish Government.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
