Milton Vanicor, who died earlier this month at the age of 96, was a master fiddler who waited until he was 95 to make his first recording, but one who developed early in his life a passion for Cajun music and the culture it embodied.

The board wants a policy that would stipulate the schools that need principals.

Eunice police arrested a suspect early Thursday in the shooting of a 23-year-old man at Lewis and McArthur streets at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
And, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot identified the suspect as a member of a street gang.

The city’s accountant and its alderman at large call the 2016 budget approved Tuesday as “standstill” and “shoestring.”
A $7.240 million general fund budget was approved, up 1 percent from the 2015 budget.

This year’s winner, Rebecca Sonnier, was at Eunice High School.
“I love teaching,” she said. “I always have. I’ve been doing it for a long time and I love it.”

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
