CASA of St. Landry recently expanded its service area into Evangeline Parish.
Madelyn Rosette, executive director of CASA of St. Landry, said “We service all of St. Landry Parish, and we just incorporated Evangeline Parish on February 1.”

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot took his warning about an emerging street crime threat to the Eunice Kiwanis Club on Thursday.
Eunice Police defused two reported assault incidents Thursday — one involving a pistol and the other a knife.
In the incident involving a knife, Oteraius Mason, 20, 200 block of Beulah Street, Eunice, was arrested for aggravated assault.
The Tri-Parish workforce continued its decline from a year ago, according to federal data released Friday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
St. Landry Parish’s March workforce was 33,413 was down 1.6 percent from March 2015.
Without specifics given about what changes might be made to the St. Landry Parish Home Rule Charter, the Parish Council turned down a request for an advisory committee to study the charter.

Eunice Police reported the arrest of a Houston, Texas, man in connection with the armed robbery of a Eunice loan company and bank.
He and a Crowley man are also suspects to an armed robbery of a Ville Platte pharmacy, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said in a news release Friday.

More than 15 years after the train derailment just west of Eunice, repercussions are still being felt in the community, but the accident’s most recent impact is a positive one — a math lab at LSUE.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
