“I like the way you walk, I like the way you talk, Susie Q.”
Well, Susie Q’s eyes aren’t even open yet, and she can’t talk, but if she could, she would say thanks to Pamela Kay Connery, founder and volunteer executive director of the Louisiana Bobcat Refuge located near Eunice.
The Eunice Police Department is increasing its focus on training with an eye to standardizing how officers are initiated into the work and veterans are kept up to date, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
“It has become an issue,” Fontenot said of training.
District Judge Marilyn Castle visited the Summit Group at the Rice Palace in Crowley on April 16 to discuss her upcoming race for the State Supreme Court. Her district includes Lafayette, Acadia, Vermilion, Jeff Davis, St. Landry, Avoyelles, Calcasieu and Cameron parishes. Judge Castle has the reputation of being fair to all parties in her court; thus assuring all defendants that they will get a fair and unbiased hearing based on the facts, evidence and applicable law that is so vital to the integrity of our judicial system. She outlined the duties and responsibilities of a Supreme Court Justice and answered all questions from the group. Gustave Sonnier got religion for a little while, but the lure of the road overcame his piety. He traveled the highways and byways, proud to represent his hometown of Lafayette among the Knights of the Road.
A lineup of chefs has been scheduled on Saturdays at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center for free foodways cooking demonstrations.
