Rape of minors added to list of crimes that can be prosecuted 30 years after offense

The Catholic Church’s past issues with scandals came up in the Louisiana State Senate chamber Monday as the body debated a House bill that would add rape of minors to the sex crimes that can be prosecuted up to 30 years after they are committed.

The St. Landry Parish Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Council's Public Works Committee is to meet first followed by the Administrative-Finance Committee at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas. A speical meeting is to follow the committee.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
