Schools close early, heavy additional afternoon rain expected

Trucks that are not supposed to be on the roadway to begin with push through overflowing water on La. 13 South in Eunice on Wednesday morning. A detour is in effect at La. 13 and Maple Ave., sending south-bound trucks to the west and then south, but the detour is usually ignored.

Heavy rains over Eunice and west St. Landry Parish had subsided by late morning, just as parish schools prepared to close early due to inclement weather.

St. Edmund scholarships value more than half million dollars

St. Edmund High held its Awards Night honoring and recognizing its seniors with outstanding,and distinquished awards and scholarships. St. Edmund Catholic School held its annual Class Night Ceremony for its 2014 graduating class Thursday evening May 15 inside the high school gymnasium.
Many academic awards, recognitions, scholarships, and special distinquishment awards were given to seniors.
