State Police reported today that gas is no longer leaking from a blown-out well south of Eunice, but that the scene remains unstable enough to require a continuing cordon around the area.

Brigman Highway house fire scene
A fire on La. 358, the Brigman Highway, southeast of Eunice killed two people early Monday.
The husband and wife who died on the fire are identified as Willis Semien, 72, and his wife, Louanna, 66, according to KATC TV.

A Eunice High graduate was killed when the car in which he was a passenger left the highway about 8 p.m. Sunday and overturned on the Roxie Highway.
State Police said Taylor Bellard, 22, was not wearing a seat belt and died at a hospital of injuries received in the accident.
The National Weather Service is receiving reports of light snow in parts of east Texas and central Louisiana this morning. This precipitation is very light and is expected to dissipate before noon. No accumulation is expected.
