A mother and her son allegedly tried to use the U.S. Postal Service as a way to receive illegal drugs but were caught by the Vermilion/Municipal Task Force and the United Sates Postal Inspector.
An Alabama motorcyclist died when his bike hit a tree near here Thursday.
Trooper Scott Moreau said 59-year-old Allen B. Bryan, of Summerdale, Ala., was southbound on a parish road Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle ran off the road and hit a tree.
A Vivian woman was killed by a coal train Thursday afternoon while on the tracks’ pedestrian crossing.
The 125-car, four-engine train was traveling south at 30 mph and blew its whistle, but Brenda Martin, 50, did not acknowledge hearing it, according authorities said.
