Legislation unhitches TOPS from tuition costs

The Senate Committee on Education, wrangling with a half dozen bills April 7 designed to transform the TOPS scholarship program, landed on one that unhooks the scholarships from tuition costs.

The Eunice Community Garden has scheduled open hours from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays to allow the community to learn about the opportunity to garden in a community setting.

Parish president explains road paving plans

St. Landry Parish Government is on its way to paving about 300 miles of roads in the Smooth Ride Home Program, which leaves out about 400 miles of roads in the parish.

Music director job hits a sour note on School Board

Adding “music” to a coordinator of instruction’s job description prompted some School Board members to question whether the position is needed.
The personnel committee recommended “music” be added to the job description, which might have seemed like a fairly easy thing to do.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
