The November 2015 Net Receipts Report shows that total state revenue thus far for 2015-2016 was $2.796 billion, a 12 percent decrease compared to that time last year. Sales tax, severance tax and corporation/franchise tax receipts were down.

A Eunice police sergeant who was facing termination at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen’s meeting emerged with a two-week suspension.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said he recommended termination for Sgt. Richard Abadie.
Unemployment rates in the Tri-Parish area rose in October, according to not-seasonally-adjusted data released Monday by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Sales tax revenue slipped in Eunice and in St. Landry Parish in November compared to November 2014 collections, but year-to-date revenues are slightly ahead of those in 2014, according to a report from the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division.
Santa Claus is back in Eunice for the Kiwanis Christmas Parade scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. today on North 2nd Street.

William ‘Mr. Bill” Thompson is announcing his candidacy for mayor of Eunice in the March 5 election.

A check for $2,050 was presented to the LSUE Foundation’s Mayci Breaux Memorial Scholarship by a delegation from Delgado Community College in New Orleans on Friday. Second-year Delegado radiologic technology students raised the money in a three-week raffle of NOLA-theme items. The scholarship is in honor of Breaux, who was a first-year radiologic technology student at LSUE who was killed in the July mass shooting at the Grand 16 Lafayette movie theater. The check was presented Friday on the LSUE campus. Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
