La. National Guard demonstrates disaster readiness

A simulated casualty is transported to a C-130J30 Super Hercules airplane by Airmen with the Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing as part of a joint aeromedical evacuation exercise, Ultimate Caduceus 2015, at the Naval Air Station – Joint Reserve Base New Orleans in Belle Chasse, La., in conjunction with the annual Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness' disaster response exercise on Saturday. The Louisiana National Guard participated in a statewide disaster response exercise (DRX) designed to test the capabilities of various local, state and federal agencies Saturday.

Wasp activity rising

Crash reports, 37.
Summons/citations issued, 75; 72, adults; and 3, juveniles.
Misdemeanor arrests, 23.
Juvenile arrests, 9.

Jazzy Walk supper set in St. Martinville

A Jazzy Walk in Time around the St. Martinville Historic District is planned beginning at 6 p.m. May 1 as the Main Street Association presents Supper on the Square.

Reward for escapee increased

The reward for two-time escapee Theobegi Levier has been increased from $2,500 to $3,500.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on Levier’s whereabouts to call 911, the sheriff’s office or St. Landry Crimestoppers.
